MAKE ME A SERVANT

Someone asked me to share the story behind writing the chorus "Make Me a Servant". Well, it's pretty simple, what happened. I was at home, and the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart saying very gently, "You know, you could stand to have a little more of a servant heart." I went straight to my piano and began playing and singing this prayer..."Make me a servant, humble and meek, Lord let me lift up those who are weak...And, may the prayer of my heart always be, make me a servant, make me a servant, make me a servant today." I still pray for a servant's heart.

I am so glad you started this website! Your gift has ministered to me unlike many other singers; thank you for giving it to Him to bless the Body and to give Him glory. I truly worship with your music. I get all excited when I hear you singing in the backround with some other musician and I tell my kids that it is you! :) I have prayed for you over the past decade, have often wondered how you are, and am glad to see the photos of your family. May God continue to pour Himself out upon you in whatever you need! Sisters in Jesus, Cathy

Dear Kelly, I live in Glendale Az, and was sad to see that I missed you when you came in March 2014. I hope you will come back I get a chance to hear you minister. You and your music have been such an inspiration to me since I was a pre-teen and I still sing your songs with my pre-teen girls in sunday school. I just wanted you to know that because of your ministry, as a young girl, I began singing and playing the piano. Your style of song and music helped shape my style of music. Thank you and God Bless you.

I listened to your music back in the late 80's/early 90's as a teen. My teenage daughter asked me the other day who my favourite artist was and it took me a couple of days to reply but I told her last night, Kelly Willard. As teens do, she Googled your name and we started listening to your music. Wow, it brought back alot of memories, I'm just wondering whether you've thought of coming over to Australia? kind regards Melissa

Your music has been a blessing to me for years and you have been one of my favorite singers. My best friend Jan (she is a singer) knew you way back when in Oklahoma...when we were in our early twenties. Most of your music I have is still on tapes...guess I need to buy some cds :) Your singing is anointed...that with the beautiful voice God gave you makes your songs an strong ministry for the Lord. Thanks & God Bless you abundantly!

This is a ovely song, Kelly. Just downloaded Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs. Glad it's now so easy to purchase your music. Hope many more people will be reached by your wonderful gift of music and worship. In fact, a friend of mine just asked me how he could purchase your albums. You have left an indelible impression on many of us in our formative years. God bless.

Your ministry of song has blessed my life for the past 35 years. As a struggling young Christian, I heard "Willing Heart" on the radio in Northern California. I began to pray the words of the song and Jesus set me free. I kept that album for years, because God used those songs to heal my heart and to share his love to me. I am happy for the opportunity to share these words with you. I still ask for a willing heart and the strength to obey Him. I have learned to feel comfortable with Him and I thank God that yesterday is gone. Grace and Peace always!

Hi Kelly. It's so nice to "re-discover" you today! YEARS ago I had a cassette of Garden. I purchased it around the time that you were performing at YWAM campground in Montana in the mid to late 80's. (Frank Peretti was speaking there after his book Present Darkness) I LOVED your music there and after on the tape. Played it over and over, and bought several other copies for friends as gifts. Once CDs came out, I guess that life and it's changes left you behind... I'm so glad that after all of life's twists and turns in your life that you are still doing music and trusting in the Lord. You have certainly experienced some very painful losses. I am saddened to hear of them, but also know that none of us are alone in them. Sometimes we can feel so alone in our sufferings, but then find out that we ALL go through loss and painful experiences. In a strange way, it can be a comfort to others. God does work all things together for good to those who love him and are the called. Praise his name! Thank you for being faithful to his calling in your life. Your music is a blessing to us while here now. LeeAnn

Dear Mrs. Willard, I will assume that you are not able to read these posts personally but I feel the need to share this. I am way out of my comfort zone here but here it goes . . . I have been asked to fill in for the current music worship leader at my church to play & lead a few worship songs along with the hymns the Pastor has chosen. Your song "Make me a Servant" is one of three that I chose for this Sunday. I should say, that Holy Spirit led me to. To the point. Our music rehearsal is tonight. I wanted to start tonight with the histories of not only the older hymns we are singing but the newer worship songs in the A.C. Hymnal: Hymns of Heritage and Hope. I immediately found this post from 2/24/14 regarding your song. Thank you!! I appreciate learning a little more about you and why you wrote this song. May God Bless your ministry. Appreciatively, Wendy

So happy to find you here, Kelly. Your music and you have played a huge role in my development as musician and believer. As a young man, I was immediately drawn to your honest sound and lyrics. There's something powerful about the ability to go deep without adding pretension or unnecessary complexity. There is a natural hunger for humility that comes to life when a person looks steadily at Jesus. You modeled that for me. Thank you for that.

The Lord brought this song to my heart just this morning, and I sang it as I was getting ready for work. I had no idea that you were the author! Your music greatly inspired my growth in the Lord as a new Christian back in the mid 80's! God Bless you!!

Kelly, thanks for sharing about how you wrote "Make Me a Servant". What was the best or most surreal experience you ever had writing a song?

I can’t believe I found you‼️🥰 but it’s 1:30am so this will be short. I came to Jesus back in the late 70s you were my most favorite singer. But I have to tell you one song well the chorus really ... For God So Loved the World, I love entering into worship in my hrs at home and those words and music bring me to tears most times. But in my hours of searching for the song tonite I decided to google your name. Be back tomorrow with more cannot wait to see every aspect of your site. Bless you

Do you sing "Open our eyes" on the Maranatha Music Album "You are my hiding place"? I ask because the soloist has a resonance in her voice that transports me to a place of worship every time I hear that song. Thank you for sharing your worship and work... Al H.
